17 Sep Show, Don’t Tell…
This is the first and best advice anyone can give to a writer. Even seasoned novelists can get lazy and and start telling us stuff, rather than “showing us” what their characters are doing.
So why bring this up on a blog about search engine optimization. Well, because it’s relevant!
The best place to “show” your customers something? Well, that’s a no-brainer; YouTube, the company Google acquired and which is, at last check, second only to their parent in the number of unique pageviews per day.
You need to be there. You really do. Let me give you an example. A client of ours sells a niche product that is a bit hard to show in just still photos. They don’t capture the dynamic nature of what they sell. So, what do we do? Create quality videos that highlight that dynamism. Result? More page views and more customers.
But here’s a caveat; you can’t just stop at one or two quickie videos. You should be committed to an entire, ongoing series of videos that entertain and inform your potential customers, in the same way you are committed to all your other website content. And when the videos get stale, it’s time to reup and do new ones.
